Why Off the Record?
Not what parenthood is supposed to look like. What it actually feels like.
Parenthood comes with a lot of advice about what it's supposed to look like.
This is for what it actually feels like.
The ridiculous things our kids do. The things we're embarrassed to admit. The questions we're afraid will get us judged. The moments that make us wonder if we're doing any of this right.
And the tiny, ordinary things we don't realize we're going to miss.
We're not here to tell you how to parent.
We're here to remind you that nobody has this completely figured out.
Parenthood is imperfect.
Nobody should have to feel alone in it.

The long-term idea
A living record of what parenthood actually feels like.
Most of what parenthood is made of never makes it into the baby book: the 2 PM negotiation, the thing you said and immediately regretted, the night you stood in the doorway just watching them sleep.
Collected one submission at a time, those things start to look less like private failures and more like a shared record. That's what we're building here — slowly, and with the parents who send it in.
What a POTR story does
Recognition
“That is exactly my life.”
Connection
“Mine too.”
Release
Room to laugh, exhale, or finally say the thing.
Reflection
Seeing your child, your partner or yourself a little differently.
Memory
A reminder that ordinary moments are worth holding onto.
No hierarchy
We're all first-time parents. Nobody has raised this child, at this age, on this day, before.
